A very concerned old white guy has concerns about how the US is handling crisis today. Now, I have to add that I am an old retired white (Christian) guy but I am a moderately liberal Democrat and my ideas here will probably be different in ways you would not expect. I might surprise you. First, the time when old white guys ran the nation is over or will be soon. I am glad. We need new ideas and strengths. The old ideas have warped into attempts to maintain power through any means possible. The “power” has become the main driving force. Thus one political party has given itself over to a man who seems to have power but no standards. I think the US needs a good conservative Republican Party that maintains standards of honesty and decency. Unfortunately this thought has also infected some who think Christianity is another means to power. They think that they can gain ultimate power over the entire nation with a combination of Christianity and use of “conservative” ideas in politics. The con man who chose himself as their modern-day savior actually has no principles and wants only power for himself. Now we have a new situation where a spirituality initially based on a gentle, giving relationship has become a vehicle for power. Their attempts to gain power from religion have almost destroyed the religion they wanted to propogate.
Christian Nationalists think they are saving a “Christian” nation from evil influences and bringing youth to God. The truth is and has been for a long while that the judgementalism and hypocrisy are the very factors running youth from “Christianity”! We are in trouble folks and the old ways of fixing it will not work and never really worked the way people thought they would. More to come…
